  • Bonfire Night, one of the social highlights of our year, will take place on the evening of Saturday 5th November. For those new to the garden, we light a massive bonfire in the North end of the garden, and then put on a spectacular fireworks display from the South end. More details will be posted closer to the date on the Events page.

  • We have highlighted many times in the last few years that some dog owners are failing to clean up after their dogs. Unfortunately, our request for dog owners to be responsible has fallen on deaf ears and we continue to receive complaints about dog mess, bagged or not, on the lawns, flowerbeds and pathways. The committee has decided to create a Dog Register similar to those now being used in an increasing number of gardens around London. We will notify residents about how to register their dog in due course. Once the Register is in place, only registered dogs will be allowed in the garden.

  • In view of the recent increase in burglaries and to help control contractors access to the garden we are considering placing a number of additional cameras near the entrances and around the garden footpath. This is already in place in nearby communal garden and has proved valuable as a deterrent and in assisting investigation of unauthorised access or suspicious activities. This may also help us monitor and control foxes activities around the garden and help us to find solutions to minimise the negative impact of these animals.

  • Some of you may have noticed that the Randolph Crescent entrance to the Garden has been closed for a couple of months. This is due to the health and safety issue resulting from the precarious condition of the interior wall facing Clifton Gardens.

This wall has been bowed inward by two large lime trees on the opposite side of the wall alongside the access ramp of Pondfield House and has now cracked open in two places. This also required some brickwork to be removed.

The Directors of Crescent Amenity Limited have been advised to close this access until the wall can be repaired and the access made safe again. In order to do so, removal of the trees would appear necessary; however, since these are in a conservation area, removal cannot be done without consent from Westminster City Council.

We are working with advisors and others as well as Westminster City Council to find a viable solution. In the meantime, these gates will remain closed. When we have developments to report, we will let you know in a future newsletter.

  • For security reasons, every couple of years we change the locks on all of the gates leading into the Crescent Garden, and issue new keys to residents. Amongst other things, this ensures that the only people who can access the garden are current residents. For those who have not yet secured new fobs, you can get one from the offices of the managing agents WBM on weekdays by appointment only. Their office address and contact details can be found on the Contacts page of the website.

  • A new willow tree has recently been planted to replace the tree removed in Autumn 2021

  • The Board of Directors of Crescent Amenity Limited have issued new updated rules for use of the garden. They contain many of the same principles of the old rules, but are clearer and more specific. You can see them on the Garden Rules page of this website.
